Rejissyor: Department of Defense. Department of the Army. Office of the Chief Signal Officer. Reel 1, unemployed youths loiter on street corners, listen to revolutionist orators, and display apathy and lack of ambition. Pres. Roosevelt signs the CCC bill. Recruits arrive at Army processing centers: billets are assigned, mess is served, and clothing is issued. Recruits leave for the processing centers, arrive at Army camps, and pitch tents and construct buildings. Roosevelt visits a camp. Reel 2, recruits fall in for reveille; eat breakfast; construct roads, bridges, and culverts; clear trees and slash in forests; erect observation towers; clear fire lanes; dig a drainage trench; plant trees and build check dams to prevent erosion; spray trees; and operate flood rescue boats. Defines the duties of Army officers assigned to CCC units. Recruits receive first aid and innoculations. Clothing and food are delivered to camps by the Quarter master Corps. Reel 3, Army cooks train CCC boys. CCC pay rates are described. Recruits sharpen and repair axes and saws. Shows camp, recreational facilities and describes discharge procedures. Recruits who elect to leave after training are discharged at Army processing centers. Stresses that CCC training makes youths better citizens and more competent workmen.
