Dr. Ron Wellesley (John Forsythe) is having a clandestine affair with Lisa (Barbara Bain), the wife of Frank Manning (Richard Kiley), one of his patients. When Frank finds out and confronts Wellesley about it, the physician makes a devious plan to kill his patient. A careful and exacting type, Welle sley thinks he has committed the perfect crime. However, he still has to deal with relentless Lt. Proctor (Joseph Campanella) and the clever Nurse Regis (Reta Shaw).
