Spy Trap : Cold War espionage series (1972-1975) Series 1: Episodes 1 to 4 -- Check Point by Robert Barr. A 4-part serial. The only surviving episodes from the first series. Made in colour, but survive only as black-and-white telerecordings: monochrome film recordings made in the 1970s from the original colour videotape, for overseas sale in countries which had not yet converted to colour. The only other surviving episodes are from Series 3, from which all ten episodes survive. The surviving Series 3 recordings are in colour. Starring Paul Daneman (Commander Ryan), Julian Glover (Commander Anderson), Kevin Stoney (Mr Trent). With Prentis Hancock . Commander Ryan is an interrogator for the British secret service. In this 4-part opening serial he is asked to debrief a field agent who has just escaped from behind the Iron Curtain bringing out three civilians, including an important scientist. On the face of it, everything about the escape appears to be routine -- but Ryan is worried about some discrepancies in the account of events given by the civilians.
