Granny Gets The Point
Granny Gets The Point
A British short film about the change to decimal currency. This was shown on various dates on various TV stations* during late-1970/early-1971, hence I upload it to the classic TV section, although it was also distributed as a non-theatrical 16mm film. I found an article which suggested it was intended for older viewers. Although produced in 1970 it is set in 1971. Produced for the Central Office of Information. *Per a search of newspapers.com the earliest broadcast I could find was on Thames Television on Wednesday 16 September 1970, while the last I could find was on Saturday 6 February 1971 on Yorkshire Television. The list of stations it was shown on is itself nostalgic: Tyne Tees, Anglia Television, ATV, Grampian Television, etc. The short was shown various times on each of these stations. I do not know the copyright status of this. As someone born in 1990 I found this short interesting and charming, but I don't know if people who grew up in the 1970s would feel the same way.
