Rejissyor: Hormel Company. Tour through the operations of the Hormel Company. Includes all parts of the meatpacking and processing EXCEPT slaughtering. Shows beef, pigs, pork, bacon, sausage, hotdogs, frankfurters, portion control, steaks, etc. Excellent shots (at opening) of rural Minnesota farm, with boys putting letter in rural mailbox and lifting up the mailbox flag, then, taking letter out of rural mailbox. A tour through the Hormel factory with the (male) menbers of the Rugg family in hopes of gaining "a new awareness of meat processing." the Ruggs are introduced to various stages of slaughtering/skinning as they are led through the "hog disassembly" line and "beef operations." Great footage of ham, Spam, pig's feet, Dinty Moore stew, steak, hot dogs, chili, productions, and packaging. Great shots of products on conveyor belts and by-products (like jello) displayed on a rotating table (really good jello/steak/hamburger footage on rotating table). The sound-track (narration) keeps reminding you that your mouth is supposed to be watering even as you watch pigs and cows skinned and hacked up.
