Ironically, this was a few years before Conway would team up with that other famous citizen of Mayberry, and one of his early comedy heroes, Don Knotts, to make a series of movies ( The Apple Dumpling Gang, The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again, The Prize Fighter , and my own favorite, The Private Eyes .)
